Enroll early as classes are filled on a "first-come, first-accepted" basis. Send in payment or payment information the GMTCC address for confirmation of a class. Classes must have a minimum number of students enrolled to run. LNSU employees receive a 20% discount. High School students from any of GMTCC sending schools are half price. All workshops are held at GMTCC in Hyde Park unless otherwise noted.

COMPUTERS - ADVANCED BEGINNERS

Next steps with a focus on making the computer work for you. Participants will learn some of the many uses of the computers, including internet and email. Students will take home flash drives with info, websites, and directions from class. Ample hands-on time.. -T. Weed

HEALING TOUCH LEVEL I **This Class Is Full

Healing Touch (HT) is a biofield therapy that is an energy-based approach to health and healing. It uses touch to influence the human energy system. Topics covered include Location and function of the chakras, assessment of the energy centers, meditation, intervention techniques, and legal and professional aspects of tough therapies. Certifications and continuing ed through AHNA, NCBTMB, and California Board of Nursing. Text and certification included in fee.

LNA TRAINING**

This course is held at Green Mountain Technology & Career Center and The Manor Nursing Home in Morrisville, Vermont. The course is a combination of classroom instruction and pratical skill development in the field of nursing. This is considered an introductory course in this field and leads to a state certification as an LNA. The course is 96 hours in length and held over an 8 week period. Commercial Driving Licensing (CDL) Class A

Days: Monday – Thursday evenings and full day Saturdays in July
Times: 4:00pm – 9:00pm Mon-Thurs, and Saturdays 8:00am-4:00pm for 5 ½ weeks
Location: Green Mountain Technology & Career Center and Giroux site in Barre
Dates: Starts: Monday, July 9, 2012 through Tuesday, August 14, 2012
CDL Class A: Tuition:  $4200.00*          Total Hours ~ 150  
*First 10 students receive an $800.00 scholarship.

Included in tuition:
Book, CDL permit, Department of Transportation physical (you will receive your medical card after you pass), drug test, and CDL licensing.

This course is designed for the beginner and includes all phases of CDL training, on the road and in the classroom. Class A runs for a minimum of 148 hours, with time divided equally between hands on practical experience and theory. Class upgrades as well as other endorsements; air brakes, passenger, school bus, tanker, double & triple trailer; are offered for those already holding commercial drivers Licenses.
Requirements to obtain CDL License:
Must be 18 years old
Valid Operators Driver’s License (License not suspended in the last three years)
Pass DOT Physical & Drug Test (cost included in Tuition, scheduled by student & Instructor)
Pass all written Test & Road Test (cost included in Tuition, scheduled by student & Instructor)

FALL MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY

Students will learn the building blocks of the foundation of medical language by breaking down terms into their parts and rebuilding new terms. Correct spelling and pronunciation of medical terms will be mastered by the end of the class. - S. Edwards, CPC certified

AARP DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM

GMTCC is pleased to partner with AARP to offer this driver improvement course designed for drivers age 50 and older. Participants review the "rules of the road," learn defensive driving strategies and review age-related changes in vision, hearing, and reaction time. Graduates may receive a discount on their auto insurance by attending this workshop. Must pre-register & send check made payable to AARP. Proof of membership required for reduced rate.
